Hello, based on what I have been reading about hope and the requirements, here is what I found. A student who graduates from an from an ineligible high school or ineligible home study program may receive the HOPE Scholarship retroactively for their freshmen year of college. The student must earn a 3.00 cumulative GPA after attempting 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of college credit. I know that hope changes every year, but there are students in college that did not graduate from high school and got his/her high school diploma/GED from another source, and hope is based on the date that the student should have graduated. This is not fair to the students that’s trying to achieve something better for themselves. If a student did not graduate from and received a certificate of completion and was put in as graduating with her class and the student hope eligible expired in 2009, again this is not fair to this student because the student did not graduate from the initiated high school, overall this will be unfair for all the student that was put in as graduated and did not graduated from the initiated high school.
Thank you,
Ms. Johnson
